Traverse City District

11 03 2012

This weekend at the Traverse City competition, our robot was primed and ready for action. Finishing the first day of competition on Friday at 14th place, we were able to quickly solve any problems we were facing. We ended the qualifying rounds on Saturday as the 21st seeded team. But with our success and consistent scoring capabilities, we were the third pick for the elimination tournament. Our number 3 alliance paired us with the Petoskey Paladins and the Brimley Bays. We would win both of our first quarterfinal matches and advance to the semifinal round. In the end, our alliance would lose in the semifinals to the winning alliance of the Traverse City District. It was an honorable way to go out, and also exciting to see our robot go farther than ever before in competition. After the finals, the award ceremony took place. We received the prestigious Gracious Professionalism Award Sponsored by Johnson & Johnson. We are now hoping that with the finals success we have achieved and the award we have received, we will have a fighting chance to be selected to go to the state competition.

Flint Kettering Competition

5 03 2012

Working out the kinks and tuning our robot at competition on Friday, we landed ourselves in 14th place out of 40 teams. A job well done, but we weren’t finished. On Saturday, the second day of competition on we found ourselves rising up the qualifying boards due to our great success scoring consistent baskets during matches. At the end of the qualifying rounds, we were sitting in 6th place and would take part in drafting teams for the finals. We would lose in the quarterfinals round, but took out a lot of good experience from going farther than ever before in competition. We are excited for Traverse City next weekend.

This weekend was full speed ahead for the team. Our arm is set, with just a few repairs needed. Bag day is Tuesday, (TOMORROW) so we are in high gear to get ready… Our robot is certainly coming together, even if we would prefer to have more time to work on it.
